We Ran 5km for Africa!

The team at Pure Homecare are delighted to announce that we actively supported the 5km ‘Run for Africa’ this past Saturday 23rd in Abbey Park.

Founded by the Leicester based non-profit social enterprise Global Hands DMU, all proceeds from the run contributed to their upcoming trip to The Gambia in June 2015. The trip itself will be in aid of the ‘Mandular Development Hub’, an innovative project designed to help local people develop vital social and economic skills.

Global Hands classify themselves as a ‘Community Interest Company’ consisting of De Montfort University students dedicated to helping those in less sustainable environments. The last three years has seen the group make significant progress on the aforementioned Hub but now that the building itself is completed; further aid is required to reach their ultimate goal. This is where we, the sponsors, came in.

Members from Pure Homecare took part in the run doing both the charity and business proud. It was wonderful to see so many people come together to show their support and we were all stunned by how well they handled the 5km trek – no easy feat!

This is by no means the extent of our involvement with Global Hands and we are striving to continue our local charitable support in the future. The fact that this small non profit group are going to such valiant lengths for altruistic global aid is truly humbling and we are just content to be a part of that local spirit.

Following the Run for Africa, Pure Homecare will also be taking part in the Leicester 10k Race for Life in July with more details on this to follow next month.

For more updates on our involvement please keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter.
